RPS achieves ISO 19650

RPS has made significant progress in digital design in recent years leading up to its achievement of BRE’s ISO 19650 International Standard Business Systems Certification. The company has established centres of excellence and best practice communities for Building Information Modelling (BIM), Virtual and Augmented Reality and Data Analytics. Best practice standards have been developed and RPS is an early mover in this rapidly developing area.

The ISO 19650 standard is an international standard for managing information over the whole lifecycle of a built asset, using Building Information Modelling (BIM). In Q1 2019, the first two international standards of the ISO 19650 series were published.

The value proposition of adopting “BIM according to ISO 19650” is the same as the proposition for UK BIM Level 2. It contains all the same principles and high-level requirements as the UK BIM Level 2 standards and is closely aligned with British Standard BS 1192 which it replaces.

The RPS Galway office was initially awarded BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification by BRE Global in November 2015. This accreditation was extended to their Dublin, Cork and Newark offices in May 2018 following completion of a successful audit process conducted by BRE (UK).

It is important for RPS to have business systems certified to this standard in recognition of its ability to deliver projects in a BIM Level 2 environment. “Updating our digital technology skills is a continuous journey. We have already met our accreditation target which now allows us to compete internationally in very competitive markets across varied project portfolios,” says Mark Costello, Director of BIM & Technical Services RPS.

“RPS’s adoption of not only national and International identified standards, but also best practice means that the certification process was a relatively straight forward progression for them. Their commitment to training, education and improving their business process sets an exemplar for all to follow,” says Paul Oakley, Director of BIM at BRE.

For clients in the UK, Ireland and internationally it demonstrates a commitment by RPS to deliver in accordance with the latest best practice International standards.
