mac have become the first Irish interiors company to be awarded Global BIM Level 2 Certification by the UK Certifying body BRE.

This certification confirms that mac fulfil the requirements of BIM Maturity Level 2 as defined in the international standard PAS 1192-2.

This certification will benefit mac’s projects and clients in that it enables more efficient coordination, documentation and analysis of the building, allowing mac onsite teams to advance the design model to handover status using interactive visualisation of the finished building before commencement on site.

The mac teams’ use of BIM facilitates early collaboration to address errors long before they have any bearing on costs or schedule.

This certification provides exemption from BIM Level 2’s PAS91 prequalification assessment at prequalification stage. It demonstrates that the company’s BIM management systems are fully aligned with recognised international standards and can deliver BIM projects to the highest level in the construction industry. By continuing to embrace the use of technology and innovation throughout the business, mac is constantly refining the level of service and value that we provide to its clients.

Eoghan Harris BIM Information Manager, mac-group said: “Achieving this milestone was very much a collaborative effort from the entire mac team, especially from Gemma Murphy, BIM Coordinator with all her hard work raising the standard of our deliverables from the very beginning and Amer Agha, BIM Project Information Manager with his display of competence and innovation that got us over the line on achieving this milestone for mac-group.”

The mac-group brings a partnering approach to construction and it is this that has powered the company’s steady growth.  With offices in Birmingham, Dublin, London and Newry, the business is a champion of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), which is an internationally recognised benchmark for green building; 15% of all the LEED accredited professionals in Ireland are mac employees; and the company has successfully delivered several LEED Platinum projects including Oracle Block A. With 93% repeat business and over 1000 successful projects completed since 2002 mac continues to grow.

Paul McKenna, Group CEO says “One of our core values is Question Assumptions.  We challenge the status quo every day, always looking for a better, cheaper, faster way.  We have recently entered into a Joint Venture with Skystone – a modular turnkey solution provider.  We continue to innovate – watch this space!”

Other key milestones for mac this year include, Deloitte Gold Standard Best Managed Company, mac-groups third consecutive year ranking in The Sunday Times fast track 100 companies, the Irish Times listed mac at 447 in Ireland’s Top 1000 companies, Irish building magazine listed mac at number 9 in Ireland’s ‘Leaders in Construction’ and mac placed number 489 in Europe’s fastest growing companies index by Financial Times.
