The Irish BIM Innovation Awards 2016 winners announced

The Irish BIM Innovation Awards winners were announced last night, Thursday, 10 November at a conference and gala dinner presentation. Produced and managed by CitA in association with Irish building magazine and proudly supported by BIMIreland.ie a packed house saw JJ Rhatigan, Ostick & Williams & BAM clinch the top awards with RPS receiving the Judges special commendation.

Prior to the evening awards, there were great project presentations and keynote speeches during the day from industry professionals and academics. The Irish BIM Innovation Awards was a great showcase event for Irish BIM capability.

The projects and winners were:

Construction: Chiswick Community School – JJ Rhatigan & Company

Design: Wellcome-Wolfston Centre for Experimental Medicine – Ostick & Williams

Operations and Asset Management Category: BIM to FM on Schools Bundle 4 – BAM

Special Judges Commendation: RPS Group – For their work on the M8/M73/M74 Motorway Improvement Project in Scotland.

The judging panel was comprised of international BIM experts. The judges spoke of the high quality of the entries. BIMIreland.ie would like to congratulate all the companies that entered and presented.

The attendees were impressed with the presentations of Anne Kemp, Director of BIM Strategy and Development, Atkins; Dr Ing. Thomas Liebech, Director of AEC3 Deutschland GmbH; Dr Mohamad Kassem, Associate Professor, Northumbria University; Dominic Thasarathar, Industry Strategist at Autodesk; and Dr Russell Manning, Virtual Design and Construction Coordinator, Office of the Physical Plant, Pennsylvania State University.

Dr Barry McAuley’s presentation on the progress of the BIM Innovation Capability Programme (BICP) was praised by the audience. Dr Alan Hore closed the conference speaking of the great progress the Irish Construction Industry is making on its BIM Journey.
